Marcie Chambers, PhD
CEO & Founder
Dr. Marcie Chambers received her PhD in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was in private practice for a number of years, treating clients for depression, anxiety, trauma, codependency and addiction. Her practice included treating individuals, couples, and families. Dr. Chambers taught psychology at the University of Colorado, Regis University and Metro State College. Dr. Chambers opened The Rose House in Boulder County, Colorado in 2007.
Allison Hill, CAS
Executive Director
Allison has held various positions within The Rose House organization since 2015, including Lead Tech, House Manager, Step Down Program Manager and Director of Operations. She has been the Executive Director since the beginning of 2020. Allison is a Certified Addiction Specialist, registered with the State of Colorado, and has completed CCAR Recovery Coach training. Having graduated from the Rose House program herself, Allison is passionate about life in recovery. She enjoys being a mom, spending time outdoors, and is grateful for the opportunity to support other women on their journeys.
Arshad William, MD
Medical Director
Dr. William received his medical degree from University of Benin College of Medicine. He was Chief Resident at the University at Harlem Hospital Center, College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia. Dr. William is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) and Member of the Colorado Psychiatric Society.
Saira Radney, MA, CAS, CAI
Family Coordinator
Clinical/Case Management Lead
Saira has been a part of The Rose House team since 2017. She grew up in Wyoming, earned a BS in Education from Utah State University, and her MA in Education from Chapman University. Saira taught middle and high school students with behavioral, emotional, and learning disabilities for many years. She was the Community Outreach/Prevention Coordinator for the local high school in Wisconsin, where she lived with her family for 15 years. Saira has training in SAP, Brief Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Nonviolent Communication, and Internal Family Systems. She holds a license as a Certified Addiction Specialist, CAS, in the state of Colorado, is a Certified ARISE Interventionist, and a Certified CRAFT Facilitator. Saira is grateful for the opportunity to support beautiful, brave women in recovery and their families, as well as be a part of the excellent Rose House staff. She enjoys living in the sunny state of Colorado with her husband, daughter, two sons, and all the outdoor activities it offers, including running, hiking, camping, and skiing. She is an avid reader, knitter, and traveler.
Barbara Flood, LAC, LCSW, PhD
Primary and Continuing Care Therapist
Dr. Barbara Flood, with a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology and an MSW from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, is a licensed addictions counselor and trauma specialist. With over 30 years of clinical experience, she specializes in trauma and PTSD, addictions, co-dependency, and aging.
Dr. Flood is certified in EMDR and Emotional Intelligence, with extensive training in handling a wide array of traumatic events and issues, including childhood abuse, intimate partner violence, and traumatic grief. A proponent of integrating mind, body, and spirit in therapy, she employs gestalt and somatic approaches, enhanced by her original training with the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. Her advanced training spans trauma reduction, mindfulness, and various therapeutic modalities such as ACT, IFS, DBT, and CBT, focusing on depression and anxiety.
Dr. Flood has also developed post-graduate training programs for therapists and coaches, and has taught psychology at universities such as Naropa, CU Denver, and Metropolitan University of Denver. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to personal growth and recovery.
Shelby Walkinshaw, LPC, PhD Candidate
Primary Therapist
Shelby Walkinshaw grew up in the wide-open spaces of Wyoming, where a deep connection to nature and animals first inspired her passion for understanding the human spirit and its relationship to the natural world. She began her professional journey as an educator, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. After many years of teaching, Shelby followed her calling to support others in deeper, more personal ways, completing a Master of Arts in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
Shelby is also a certified death doula, companioning individuals and families through end-of-life transitions with compassion, presence, and reverence. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), where she continues to explore the intersections of consciousness, psychology, and spirituality. Shelby’s approach to therapy is integrative, experiential, and grounded in presence. She draws from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, and Existential therapy, weaving in Interpersonal and person-centered approaches to create a compassionate, individualized experience for each client. Her work often includes inviting clients to reconnect with their inner wisdom through body awareness and the natural world.
Outside of her professional life, Shelby finds joy and grounding in the natural world. She loves hiking, camping, skiing and snowboarding, and spending quality time with her two children and her beloved dog, Higgins. On quieter days, you might find her throwing around a kettlebell or simply soaking up the beauty of the outdoors.
Trish Knutson, MA, LPC
Primary Therapist
Trish Knutson, a Licensed Professional Counselor, is a dedicated mental health professional in Colorado, having worked in clinical practice since 2016. Before joining The Rose House as a primary therapist, she owned and operated a private practice and worked on designing programming for other treatment centers, honing her expertise in evidence-based modalities.
Trish specializes in treating psychological trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use, by blending clinical rigor with creative expression. Her practice often incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Art and Play Therapy, as well as EMDR, all in an effort to help clients process emotions and trauma in a multifaceted way.
Originally from Wyoming, Trish has called Colorado home since 2004, developing deep roots in the community. Outside of her clinical work, she is a family-oriented woman who finds joy in spending quality time with her daughters, friends, and family, as well as embracing Colorado life by spending time outdoors with her beloved pug, Bella.
Trish is deeply passionate about empowering women, guiding them through life’s transitions with a focus on fostering lasting hope and happiness.
“Shomei” Karen Kral, MA, LPC
Primary Therapist
Shomei Karen Kral began her work in mental health, substance use, and process addictions in 2001 while in graduate school at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rooted in a deeply experiential and transpersonal approach, her training emphasized the importance of therapists engaging in their own healing. During this time, Shomei worked in residential treatment at Life Healing Center of Santa Fe, where she later became a primary therapist leading groups and working with individual clients. Her career evolved into many years of private practice, focusing on trauma resolution and healing.
Shomei is a Certified Inner Bonding® Facilitator and Trainer, and the developer of the Inner Bonding Facilitator Training Program, under the mentorship of founder Dr. Margaret Paul. She also created Inner Bonding in Action (IBIA), an experiential group process that integrates Inner Bonding with Psychodrama, offering clients a powerful, embodied way to work with their wounded and healthy parts.
Formerly known as Karen, Shomei (SHOW-may) adopted her spiritual name, meaning “luminous life,” reflecting both her presence with clients and her own journey of recovery—rediscovering a deep sense of aliveness through her personal healing work. She is excited to be part of The Rose House and is aligned with its commitment to meaningful, root-cause healing for women.
Lexzi Shomler
Operations Manager
Since graduating from CU Boulder with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Lexzi found her niche at the Rose House. Her background with mental health and psychiatry led her to her position as a Psychiatric Technician, and she now manages both the property and the wonderful team of mental health technicians. When she’s not at work, you can find her hiking, reading, fixing up old furniture, or spending time with her loved ones!
Deanna Staton
Registered Nurse
Deanna holds a BS in Biology and BS in Nursing and has worked across multiple areas of behavioral health throughout her career as a nurse, including roles in direct clinical care, healthcare management, and integrative health. She is passionate about building environments where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered in their healing process. Previously, Deanna managed several ketamine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and TMS clinics across multiple states.
Deanna enjoys life in Colorado, where she finds inspiration in movement, ritual, and time outdoors. In her free time, she loves exploring the mountains, practicing mindfulness, and continuing her own path of personal growth and self-discovery. She is grateful for the opportunity to support women on their healing journeys and to be part of a devoted community of mental health allies at The Rose House.
Shani Raviv, RYT-200
Yoga, Health & Wellness Specialist
After recovering from a decade of anorexia nervosa, Shani published her indie-award winning book, “Being Ana: a memoir of anorexia nervosa,” and created a healing writing and witnessing practice—Journey Writing Circles—that she leads at The Rose House. And, as a yoga practitioner of 30 years, Shani is RYT-200 certified by The Yoga Institute, India, and shares her love of yoga as a life practice at The Rose House. Also, her passion for health, belief in food as medicine, and background in the health coaching world, has her cooking and teaching health and wellness at The Rose House. Shani lives in the forests of the Rocky Mountains with her husband and her teen son and loves yoga, poetry, cooking, camping, people, and The Rose House!
Amber Owens
HR Coordinator
Amber has been in recovery for several years herself. Since overcoming her battle, she has earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in psychology. She is currently working on her master’s in human resource management and her SHRM certification as well. She is also a mother and loves spending time with her family. On a warm weekend you might find them somewhere like the zoo or the renaissance fair.
Rae Ann Marquez
Business Development
Rae Ann brings has been in the behavioral health and substance abuse field since the early 2000’s, dedicating her career to helping individuals and families find lasting recovery.
With a strong background in business development, sales, marketing, and referral relations, Rae Ann has helped professionals and families connect to best fit treatment programs, while maintaining a people-centered approach to care. Her work is guided not only by professional expertise but also by deep personal commitment—she proudly celebrates her own recovery journey Since April 19th 1986.
Rae Ann believes there is no greater privilege than walking alongside individuals and their families as they heal from addiction, codependency, trauma, and the bonds that hold them back. Her dedication, lived experience, and unwavering compassion continue to inspire hope and transformation in the lives she touches.
